Weird and Religious
There are reports in Islamic tradition that the Prophet’s night journey involved travelling from Mecca to Jerusalem and then ascending through multiple heavens in a single night, meeting earlier prophets along the way and seeing paradise and hell. The journey is presented as both physical and supernatural.

In the name of religion
2014, Peshawar in Pakistan. Islamist Muslim Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan gunmen attacked a school, killing many children and staff. The group justified the massacre as revenge against the army and part of jihad, claiming even children of soldiers were legitimate targets.
Fact
In Islam, the Five Pillars form the basic framework of practice, and Islam presents these acts as essential duties for believers.
Faith or reality?
Religion romanticises faith as courage in the face of uncertainty, but that description is false. Courage faces uncertainty without inventing answers. Faith avoids uncertainty by declaring it solved. It replaces the discomfort of not knowing with the comfort of imagined certainty. That comfort is seductive, yet it destroys intellectual honesty. The unknown is not confronted. It is buried beneath conviction.
This does not mean that humans must live without meaning or conviction. It means that meaning and conviction should rest on reality, not retreat from it. Questioning does not corrode understanding. It creates it. Doubt is not decay but a sign that a belief deserves attention. Reason does not destroy truth. It destroys error.

“Such evil deeds could religion prompt.” Lucretius.
